I don't know if its required everywhere but in our Girl Scout Service unit every Junior troop is required to put on one Service Unit activity. Yesturday one of the troops held a Sock Hop. Price to get in a package of socks that will be donated to a charity. Plus $1.00 for a picture which I will post when I get it in the mail. I seen it and its really cute but then again I think 99.9% of the time Makayla takes a cute picture. Our troop leader and a few of us parents talked about it yesturday and we are going todo their Service unit activity next year when the girls are first year Juniors to get it out of the way.
There are quite a few pictures here but each has its own reason. I made her skirt and hair tie out of a sheet from thrift store for $1.00. Her shirt, shoes, slip to make underskirt (which of course we didn't get a picture of), and neck tie were from the same thrift store for $3.00 I know I paid $4.00 for it all. Felt for the poodles for her skirt, shirt and socks (another thing we did not get a picture of) $1.00 but I only used about half of the sheet of it. Socks 3pr for $2.00 lace that I used on the socks, and lace for underskirt were out of my stash. For under $6.00 I don't think that I did too bad.
First off as soon as Makayla got ready her brothers and sister started saying "Look at me I'm Sandra Dee"
Some of the detail on the skirt I ended up using black yarn to make the leash so that I could get some loops in it. You can see some of the lace from the under skirt in this picture but I wish she was looking at me. She has her sock donation in her hand
Kayla, Payton and Jade in the car they took the pictures in this
I don't like that this picture is blurry I just love it. The girls were having a great time the jutebox in the background lit up also one of the decorations they had a dj there
Drag racing and more of their decorations
More decorations this picture is going to be deleted from camera so blurry I don't know what happened
Bubble blowing contest. Payton won along with another girl in this group this was her second bubble I actually made her loose her first before I got a picture because I told her I wanted to pop it on her face and I made her laugh. The girls had two chances to make the biggest bubbles. Thier prize was for an icecream at a local place that holds weekly sock hops during the summer months.
