It's official our summer is over

Yes its only the second week in August, kids don't go back to school until Sept. 7th but it is official summer in this house is over. Not that really have one since during summer my little miss plays softball so we spend the summer on a softball field. I don't know how but I learned more about softball this past summer than I have in the six years she has been playing. Maybe because it was the majors, there was no longer a coach pitching to the girls, they were allowed to steal bases, coaches weren't on the field with them. Maybe because there was another team that had all been together as long as the girls team so they actually had another team that they had to actually had to use their skills to beat. We still have one more week of ball until championship game and Kayla's and one other team are tied for first place. A couple of weeks ago they had a double header with the same team and they lost one and won one. Championship game could go either way.

Now on to the real sports, not that softball isn't real but I just like the fall sports the two kids play better.

Kenny has to play Jr. High football this year (which this mom is not happy about). Kenny didn't want to have to play Jr. High either but is just happy that he is able to play. Alot of school districts have cut sports funding all together. Our school district went thru this years ago, our school sports are only funded by the school district 1/4 of the way the rest is funded by the Sports Booster Club that was started 22 years ago when sports were cut to 1/4th school funding. And they have kept all sports programs for Jr and Sr high levels going. In the next town over right now they are trying to find funding for Jr high sports they have it for this year but next year it will be on the table again. They have no youth sports programs at all they use our towns youth sports progams. After having kids that have played sports with these other kids for so many years. Lots of lifetime friendships have been made and the kids have come to count on each other. It is going to be hard to watch as they go thru you can play, wait nope we decided you can't.

Miss Makayla on the other hand will have three more years in Pop Warner cheerleading. Although how I wish she would give football a try she won't we have had coaches approch her about playing football nope not my girly girl. I think that she would be a great football player, she excels at softball, did great at lacrosse, why not football. Oh well although I am not a "Cheer Mom" its her choice todo what she pleases. Three more years of Pop Warner is what she chooses. Jr. high does not have cheerleaders at all so we have to stay were we can, to make the high school squad, which she is now telling me when shes done in Pop Warner she is done cheering. Oh no your not I won't let it be the end. No if she wants to then thats fine but I know she will change her mind by then.

This year once again they have a huge squad at least 25 girls again. At least 15 of these girls have been together since they started Pop Warner add a couple that have been higher then them but not at highschool level yet then add in a couple of new ones yearly, and you got the hardest working girls out there. Practice started last week, two days because the third day we got a huge downpour of rain and even though they practice in the rain thier coaches know they aren't getting anything out of these girls in a down pour. They can not stunt for the first 10 hours of practice, yea tell these girls that. It is the first thing that they want to do work on their stunting. Last week was all about can we remember our sideline cheers. Oh and we are going to teach the new girls and the ones that weren't at our unofficial cheer meetings our "Were on our way to states cheer" The girls decided that they need their own cheer for the boys after each win, so they made one up.

Last night was ok girls we got all the basics that we needed to down lets work on compition cheer. The coaches told them that they were going to show them the basics of the cheer once and they better hit it the first time then they will adjust from there. And they did get it the first time. WOW is all I have to say.
